People I hate more than "collar poppers"....

I think pretty much everyone can agree that collar-poppers are douchebags (unless you are from South Carolina, in which case that fashion trend is part of your state identity, along with the even-more douchebaggy croakies sunglasses straps (worn at all times including indoors, at night, and at formal functions like weddings and baptisms), "stylishly ugly" shorts, and your homage to Islam on your state flag).

There happens to be one closely-related entity who is more annoying than the collar-popper: the collar-roller....what is a collar-roller you may ask? It is that random tool that flips down and rolls the collar of a winter coat into an approximation of a polo shirt.
There is a reason the collar of certain cuts of winter jacket are inherently popped- they are designed that way to block wind and alleviate the need to use a scarf, which honestly are not very masculine. That is also why many raised-collar winter coats have the brand/logo on the back of the neck..it is supposed to be left up, not rolled down and tucked. Some of these cuts even have rigid material in them to help them remain up and functional during outdoor activity, yet the collar-roller insists on fighting the nature of the design and turning the collar down..

The jacket most raped by this poor sense of winter fashion is the North Face Denali fleece. I have seen many of these poor, nicely styled jackets forced into a bastardization of their design. Sadly, many other brands and cuts are affected.

Here is some winter jacket fashion sense for you: if the jacket was meant to have a collar down like a polo shirt #1 it is probably not actually a winter jacket and is actually a wind breaker... #2 if it does happen to be a winter coat, then the manufacturer will ship it/advertise it with the collar down..go to the web site and check how the jacket is displayed by itself or on a model. If it is appears on the website or in the store with the collar standing up, then that is how The North Face/Columbia/Mountain Hardwear/etc expect you to wear it.
(Note this policy only applies to "sporty" winter wear..formal winter jackets like topcoats and peacoats are cut with collars and lapels like a normal jacket and of course are not popped...if I ever see someone in a topcoat with a popped collar I would go ape-shit on them).

Please do the world a favor and not be a douchebag...wear your clothes the way the designer intended.

Welcome to my blog

I like to talk about random, rambling things, so if you are looking at this page, you probably have nothing better to do. In fact, you should probably log off the computer and pick up a book instead.
